7 cross-curricular online tools with scope for learning platform integration
JIT (J2e Infant Tools) is a set of online educational tools specifically designed for younger learners.
JIT has a colourful and friendly feel which appeals to children from reception through to KS2.
JIT consists of the following seven colourful and friendly cross-curricular tools. Each tool builds upon the other and allows a child to progress at his own pace. A standard format for each tool means each one is easy to master and provides a fun and appealing way to have fun online!
With J2e Infant Tools every child can be creative online!
Write is a simple to use writing tool, ideal for story-telling and exploring words. A choice of age appropriate word banks and colourful background templates are available to help support and inspire the younger learners.
Paint is a wonderfully easy to use creative tool, with which children will have hours of fun. It encourages them to paint freely and confidently with different sizes, colours and fills. Use the beautiful template backgrounds and pictures to create real online works of art!
Turtle teaches children the initial concepts of direction and simple programming. Children can have fun designing their own ‘turtle’ and planning a route for it to follow. Fantastic nursery rhyme and adventure templates are also included.
Chart is a fantastic introduction to line, block, pie and bar charts. Play with numbers, produce simple surveys and work with the dynamic and incredibly appealing variety of charts. Compare your results by mixing a variety of charts on the same page!
Pictogram is a great way to introduce data handling. With an incredible array of colourful topics ready to choose from; your children will be counting and exploring in no time. Alternatively, they can design their own pictogram and discover all sorts of items to count!
Animate allows children to really have fun with their creative talents. A brilliantly simple stop-frame animation tool for producing expert results. Not only can they use the plethora of characters and backgrounds in the picture bank, but it is a natural progression to draw their character in paint then use ‘animate’ to make it dance, jump, grow or bounce.
MIX is the ultimate in producing a workbook and showcase of a child’s work. Mix as many of the tools as required into the book using the templates and you have a ready-made selection of evidence to show, keep, add to and look through as their work develops!
JIT’s Key Features
- completely online and able to integrate with any learning platform. Being online and e-safe means children can securely share and publish their work on the web and access it both within school and at home, anytime!
- requires no CD / network installs. The product runs through a browser meaning pupils and teachers can concentrate fully on their projects rather than IT infrastructure
- fully Shibboleth compliant. With the advent of Learning Platforms and VLEs within schools, online products need to be both safe and easy to access. JIT being Shibboleth compliant means that compiling evidence of work, personalising and accessing the software securely is a necessity, making collaboration and sharing of work a reality
- includes key features, such as not having to type in a filename to save a document, which is perfect for younger users. Thumbnail images of the saved files appear in the ‘Load a file’ window
- includes many templates with relevant word and picture banks appearing automatically. All have been designed specifically to cover areas on the foundation stages and reception years framework.
- includes all of the tools that can be used to extend and cater for gifted and talented children. They have a degree of flexibility within them to encourage personalisation and development
